Local art on display at airport

Passengers travelling via Liverpool Airport over the next 12 months will be able to see a number of pieces of work created by local artists.
The airport launched its Community Art Project last week. Five large sections of wall space in public areas of the terminal have been allocated to the exhibition, which will see work displayed as part of Liverpool's year as the European Capital of Culture.
A number of artists have been invited to take part in the initiative, including local photographers, weavers and embroiderers as well as schools and community groups as part of a four month rolling programme to showcase local talent.
Neil Pakey, Liverpool Airport Managing Director, said: ‘We are delighted to be giving local artists the chance to display their work to thousands of passengers and visitors, especially during this Capital of Culture year.'
The airport has an application form to help with the selection process. Artists and groups should log on to its website (click on the link above) to download the form. To request a hard copy via the post, telephone 0151 907 1622 and leave a contact name and full postal address.
