A Ryanair plane made an emergency landing soon after take off from Liverpool Airport yesterday afternoon, over fears of a fire on board. The 6 crew and 116 passengers used emergency chutes to leave the plane, due to operate a flight to Agadir, Morocco, which returned to the airport at around 16:00. The airport was closed for about an hour due to the emergency, but no-one was injured.
The emergency was triggered after a warning light activated in the plane, but firefighters using specialist equipment and later engineers checked the aircraft and confirmed there was no fire. A replacement aircraft took the passengers to Agadir after a two hour delay. A spokesman for Ryanair said: ‘A faulty indicator light is the suspected cause of this turn-back.’
