Liverpool Airport makes fresh liquids plea
06.08.08
Liverpool Airport has revealled that up to 10 bin bags full of bottled drinks, baked beans, peanut butter, brown sauce, curries, mango chutney, sun cream and insect repellent are confiscated every day from passengers. A spokesman said that, almost 2 years after security restrictions on hand luggage were introduced, many passengers are still unsure or unaware of the restrictions.
The amount being confiscated has halved since this time last year, but airport bosses are still urging travellers to remember the rules. As thousands of holidaymakers head abroad, it is asking passengers to keep to the limits for liquids set following the discovery a plot to blow-up transatlantic passenger jets in August 2006.
Under Department for Transport regulations, passengers can take a maximum of 10 containers of liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols up to a maximum 100ml each in their hand baggage. They must all be in a clear plastic bag no bigger than 20cm x 20cm.
