New owner and name for Liverpool Airport hotel
07.07.08
The Marriott Hotel Liverpool Airport will become part of the InterContinental group from August 1, abtn.co.uk reports. The 163-room, 4 star hotel, which occupies the original art deco Liverpool Airport terminal and control tower, and is a mile from the airport’s new terminal, will become the Crowne Plaza Liverpool Airport.
John Paul Nel, Marriott’s VP for Northern England, told abtn that the property was owned by Neptune Holdings, who had decided to exit the hotel business. ‘So the property was put up for sale and Marriott was outbid by another company [InterContinental].’
Andy Cosslett, CEO, InterContinental Hotels Group, parent group of Crowne Plaza, said: ‘We are delighted to be adding a Crowne Plaza near Liverpool Airport. The hotel is a welcome addition to what is one of our fastest growing brands around the world.’
