Emerald to cut links with Liverpool Airport
09.12.06
Emerald Airways links with Liverpool Airport have been severed after the company that bought the defunct airline's planes declined to take over its lease at the airport.
The Airline was put into administration in May after the CAA withdrew its operating license because of safety concerns. Last week the its 30-strong fleet of planes were sold by joint administrators from KPMG to Australian company PTB (Emerald) Pty.
KPMG have now confirmed that while a deal is expected to be concluded by the end of next week for the airline's Blackpool Airport site, 'the purchaser does not wish to operate from Liverpool airport and we have therefore surrendered the lease.' Liverpool John Lennon airport spokesman Robin Tudor confirmed that the lease for Emerald's premises has been surrendered.
