10.05.07
The first ever flight between Liverpool Airport and Toronto in Canada was launched this week by Scottish long haul low-cost airline Flyglobespan. The flights will operate once a week - on a Monday - to Hamilton Airport, which serves downtown Toronto and other popular destinations in Ontario, including Niagara Falls.
The flights depart Liverpool Airport at 13:30 arriving in Toronto at 16:30. Return flights leave Toronto on Sunday evenings at 20:20, arriving in Liverpool at 08:25 the following morning. Later this month Flyglobespan will launch a second transatlantic route from Liverpool, with a daily service to New York JFK, the first direct air service between the two cities.
Neil Pakey, the airport's managing director said: 'This flight marks the beginning of a new era for Liverpool Airport by being our first ever scheduled transatlantic service.'
