Liverpool Airport passengers up 9 percent in June
11.07.06
The addition of new routes contributed to a large rise in passenger numbers at Liverpool Airport, according to figures released yesterday. Statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) show that some 452,269 passengers passed through Liverpool airport in June, an increase of nine percent over the same period last year.
Ten new scheduled routes have been added over the past 12 months - including Bergerac, Galway, Seville and Gdansk - mostly by low cost airlines easyJet and Ryanair. Liverpool is also due to get its first scheduled flights to New York, thanks to a daily service from Flyglobespan that will begin next May announced last week.
