Fly parking problem near Liverpool Airport
12.03.08
A reader has complained about fly parking - where people picking up, dropping off or flying from an airport park in local streets for free, rather than paying to parking in an airport car park - near Liverpool Airport.
He says: 'Liverpool Airport has many car parks, yet people still insist on parking on Hale Road with no thought about the inconvenience they cause residents. I even came home late one night recently, only to find I could not park my car on my drive because someone had parked their car in the way.'
'Over the years, more and more people are parking on Hale Road to pick up, drop off, and even go on holiday and leave their cars – all to save themselves a few pounds in parking.'
'Cars have been vandalised at night outside my house and I have had to ring the police to get them towed away because I worry that they will be set on fire. So not only are they taking a risk parking their cars in the road, but they are also putting residents in danger.'
'I accept that there is no law against parking a car in the road, but if people need to park, they should at least have the decency to look where they are parking. Also, if they are actually parking to avoid paying fees, they should think how they would feel if someone did this outside their home.'
