Management and unions to meet over pay dispute
12.10.07
Management and union officials at Liverpool Airport are to meet in an effort to avoid strike action in a pay dispute after staff overwhelmingly rejected what had been described as a 'final' pay offer. The talks involve essential airport workers including Air Traffic Control, Fire Fighting services and engineering staff.
Airport bosses and staff have been in talks for several weeks to resolve issues surrounding pay and conditions. A further meeting will take place on Thursday next week, after over 82% of union members rejected a pay deal that would have seen a 3.8% increase backdated to April and rising to 4% from October.
Both Airport management and the unions say they are determined to resolve the dispute without industrial action.
