Security staff reject pay offer; could strike
14.08.11
Liverpool Airport security staff could strike after rejecting a pay offer from employer Securitas, the Echo reports. They narrowly voted against the pay deal, with 66 against and 51 in favour, and will now hold a ballot over industrial action.
In a separate ballot Peel Airport employed staff accepted a pay deal by 44 votes to 40. These staff include bird scaring, admin, car park and fire station staff. Peel is believed to have offered a 1% pay rise this year and a £200 lump sum bonus. The second year will see a 2% rise, from April, 2012, with a sliding scale bonus based on profits of a minimum of £200 from December, 2012.
