New role for airport boss
15.06.08
The Forum of Regional European Airports (FARE) has elected a new president to replace Bart de Boer, who stepped down this week following his departure as CEO of Eindhoven Airport. Liverpool Airport CEO Neil Pakey has been named interim president until the end of 2008. He is already Chairman of the Airport Operators Association (AOA) as well as holing the role of Deputy Chief Executive of Liverpool Airport's owner, Peel Airports.
Mr Pakey said: ‘It is absolutely vital that FARE continues to serve as the main representative body of European regional airports. It has been proven numerous times in the past that an independent representation for regional airports is crucial to effectively safeguarding their interests.'
'Developments in the European regulatory environment continue to pose challenges for the regional aviation sector, and we must be ready to react promptly. Regional airports are highly valued by passengers for the quality of services that they offer, including low prices, lack of congestion and direct connections with numerous destinations in Europe,. It is important that they continue to develop and deliver even better services to European passengers.’
