easyJet celebrate record month
15.10.09
easyJet set a new record for passenger numbers at Liverpool Airport, the Echo reports. In August it had more than 132,000 passengers on departing flights, its best performance since launching operations from the airport in 1997.
Although easyJet operates 23 routes from Liverpool, compared with Ryanair’s 45, it carries more passengers, making it the airport’s biggest airline. In May easyJet carried 100,623 passengers compared with Ryanair’s 96,272 and from November it will increase its passengers further by basing a ninth plane at the airport to serve new routes to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. An easyJet spokeswoman, told the newspaper: ‘Its great to be back on top. Clearly we are still the region’s favourite airline.’
