easyJet plane makes emergency landing
18.01.07
An easyJet plane flying from Belfast to Stansted made an emergency landing in Liverpool Airport yesterday.
Air traffic controllers at Liverpool Airport received a call from the pilot warning he was low on fuel, the airport said. He then declared a full emergency which led to 999 services standing by on the tarmac. However, an easyJet spokesman said the diversion was due to high winds en route to London and that there was no shortage of fuel.
The plane landed safely at 11:40 and was inspected by the airline's safety experts. easyJet arranged for coaches to take passengers on to Stansted.
