Emergency exercise tonight and Sunday

18.11.08

An emergency exercise is being staged over two days at Liverpool Airport starting this evening at 19:30. Tonight's part of the bi-annual full emergency exercise will last for 2 hours. The exercise will then continue on Sunday (November 23) between 10:30 – 12:30.

The exercise is a means of testing the airport’s plans along with those of other agencies for a full scale emergency incident at the airport. Around 50 volunteers will take part on Sunday and a number of emergency services personnel will also participate in the exercise. The airport will however be operating ‘business as usual’ on both days and no passengers or airlines will be affected.

The exercise is a requirement by the Civil Aviation Authority licensing of the airport and must be held every two years.
