Mass meetings held on pay dispute

Liverpool Airport managers, unions and staff held 3 mass meetings yesterday in a bid to avoid strikes in a dispute over pay. The GMB and Unite unions are balloting their members over industrial action after rejecting what was described by the airport as their 'final' pay offer.
Union officials and airport management have vowed to continue talking whilst a month-long ballot on industrial action, which could lead to strikes during the busy festive period, takes place.
The airport spokesman, Robin Tudor, said they staged mass meetings for staff, including firefighters, engineers, air traffic control staff, airside safety officers and car parking staff. Two more meetings are planned for Monday. He said: 'There was good dialogue and frank exchange of views.'
