Freezing fog hits flights
28.12.09
Freezing fog led to all inbound flights on Monday morning being diverted to East Midlands and Robin Hood airports. A total of 17 flights were either diverted or scrapped altogether, with some passengers facing delays of several hours.
Early morning flights were able to leave on schedule, but as heavy fog descended during the morning, visibility on the runway fell to about 300m. Among the routes hit were those between Liverpool Airport and Geneva, Amsterdam, Nice, and Belfast.
Passengers due to fly from the airport on Tuesday are advised to check flights are on schedule if there is more fog or snow fall.
