easyJet celebrate 25 millionth Liverpool passenger

easyJet has celebrated carrying 25 million passengers at Liverpool Airport, with the lucky 25 millionth passenger receiving free flights for a year. Helen Taylor, from Chester, was surprised at check-in this morning on the easyJet flight to Barcelona. The budget airline’s UK Commercial Manager, Ali Gayward, was on hand to give her a special boarding card entitling her to free flights up to November 2011.
Liverpool Airport became easyJet’s second base in October 1997 when it first arrived in the region four years after its initial launch from Luton. The two original routes from Liverpool to Amsterdam and Nice carried 130,000 passengers in their first year. Today 10 planes operating from the base provide Liverpool residents with access to more than 30 destinations.
