Union to take baggage handler dispute to court
31.01.12
The GMB union is heading to court in its bitter redundancy row at Liverpool Airport, the Daily Post reports, as baggage handling firm Servisair presses ahead with its plans to axe between 28 - 35 staff.
The union has ended its industrial action at the airport as it has reached the end of its legally-enforced 12-week period. It will take its flight with the company to the courts to obtain a ‘protective award'. If a tribunal rules in the GMB’s favour, Servisair will have to pay between 30-90 days pay for each of the employees at the risk of redundancy.
